Stainless Steel Flue Liners

Stainless Steel Liners serve several purposes. They protect the house from heat transfer to combustibles, they protect the masonry from the bi-products of combustion that can cause corrosion, and they improve efficiency.

The chimneys in many older homes are unlined. This means that there is not a clay, ceramic, or metal lining material. There is simply brick and mortar serving to exhaust the bi-products of combustion. This lack of a lining material is very unsafe and has the potential for a catastrophic chimney fire.

The CSIA reports that the National Bureau of Standards tested masonry chimneys in the 1940’s and again in the 1980’s and found that unlined chimneys were so unsafe that one of the researches said that building a chimney without a liner was “a little less than criminal”

The good news is that here at Shane’s Chimney Care we can answer any questions you have about unlined chimneys and stainless steel liners. We can successfully install a liner in your chimney so you can once again safely enjoy a fire with your family.

M-Flex Pre-Insualted Stainless Steel Liner

Our preferred liner to install if flue size permits, this CSIA approved M-Flex Pre-Insulated Stainless Steel Liner will comply with IRC R1003.11 which will bring your chimney up to code and safety standards.

This liner renews the entire inside of your chimney. We attach it to a stainless steel chimney chase cover at the top, with a stainless steel rain cap, damper, and storm collar. We attach the liner to a bottom plate and mason it into the top of your smoke chamber. We hand parge the smoke chamber with insulated mortar. Once all of this is complete you have all new components inside your chimney and can resume making memories with your family in front of the fire.

This liner comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer with annual cleaning and inspection by a Nationally Certified Chimney Sweep. Shane’s Chimney Care also guarantees every liner we install.
